Big fourth inning pushes MT over Marshall

The Blue Raiders scored first for the fifth straight game, grabbing two runs when Brycen Thomas doubled home Nick Carnevale and Myles Christian. But the big inning for MT came in the fourth.
JT Mabry got the inning going when he smashed a double to left field to drive in Darrell Freeman Jr. and Peyton Wigginton. After an Aaron Antonini two-RBI single, Myles Christian delivered the big blow, a three-run home run to right field to push the Blue Raiders lead to seven in the fourth inning. The Blue Raiders would tack on two more runs in the sixth inning including an RBI hit for Blake Benefield.
Left-hander Peyton Wigginton got the nod on the mound for the Blue Raiders and put together another stellar start. The sophomore went seven innings, striking out seven of the 31 batters he faced. Wigginton was also used as the designated hitter, picking up his first career hit in the fourth inning and finishing the day 2-for-4 at the plate, joining Mabry and Huff with multi-hits on the day.
Right-hander Scheldon Paulk came in relief of Wigginton for the final two innings of work.
All but two of the Blue Raiders in the lineup scored a run in the game.
What's Next?
The two teams will conclude the series Sunday afternoon, with the Blue Raiders looking to take their second road C-USA series of the season. First pitch is slated for noon.
