Lady Raiders Fall in a heartbreaker on Senior Day

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's women's tennis falls in a heartbreaking battle to Memphis on #SeniorDay, 4-3, at the Adams Tennis Complex.
The Tigers took the first point in the match by winning at No. 1 and 3 doubles. Marta Peris Herrero and senior Luisa Zirilli were the first off the courts with a dominate 6-3 win. On court one, Costanza Magazzini and Zani Barnard battled back from a 4-2 deficit to tie it up at 5-5 but would fall 7-5. Memphis clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 comeback win on court three.
Memphis took a 2-0 lead by taking court two. The Blue Raiders caught fire with a strong momentum swing as Lee Barnard, Zani Barnard and Luisa Zirilli quickly took their matches in straight sets. Zirilli has a team leading 18 singles wins with a 2-0 senior weekend leading up to the C-USA championships. Memphis responded by taking court five, setting up a duel at No. 1.
Costanza Magazzini rebounded early after a first set 7-5 tiebreaking loss but quickly took a breather and grinded a huge 6-4 second set win. But sadly would fall 6-4 in the last set.
