Jordan eligible for two seasons after sitting out in 2019-20
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.— Middle Tennessee added a sixth member to its 2019-20 men's basketball recruiting class over the weekend with the signing of transfer Jalen Jordan.
Jordan, a rising junior transferring from St. Francis University (Brooklyn), will sit out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA transfer rules, and will be eligible for two years of competition as a Blue Raider beginning with the 2020-21 season.
"We are very excited about adding Jalen to our basketball program here at Middle Tennessee," head coach Nick McDevitt said. "He is a high character young man with a bright basketball future in front of him. He completes a recruiting class that will help us continue to grow our program."
The high-scoring guard joins the Middle Tennessee program after two phenomenal years on the Brooklyn campus. Jordan turned in a stellar freshman campaign for the Terriers in 2017-18, when he earned NEC All-Rookie team honors after averaging 11.1 points per game on the strength of a 41% shooting mark from behind the 3-point arc. As a sophomore, Jordan led St. Francis with a 14.8 ppg average and garnered second team All-NEC honors. He finished his two-year career for the Terriers shooting a blistering 41.5% on three-point field goals.
A 6-foot-3 Conyers, Georgia native, Jordan is moving closer to his hometown, where at Rockdale County High School he scored over 1,000 career points and averaged 17.5 points per game as a senior in 2015-16.
After graduating from Rockdale County, and prior to signing with St. Francis, Jordan attended the National Top Sports Institute (NTSI), a first-year prep program in Scotland, Pennsylvania. At NTSI in 2016-17, Jordan averaged 18.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5 assists per game for three-time National Prep Coach of the Year, Chris Chaney.
Jordan's signing rounds out Nick McDevitt's second recruiting class as the leader of the Blue Raiders, which includes Dayton transfer Jordan Davis, Cape Fear Community College transfer Jo'Vontae Millner, and prep standouts Tyson Jackson (Hargrave Military Academy), Elijah Lawrence (Washington Academy), and Tyler Millin (The Skills Factory).
