XC Faces Strong Field at Commodore Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Despite the tough field faced at the Commodore Classic Saturday morning, the Middle Tennessee cross country teams showed top performances with the men's team finishing first and the women placing seventh.
The Blue Raider men's team placed first out of 15 teams, above No. 14 Ole Miss and No. 15 Indiana with a total 52 points and a time of 2:03:31. Senior Kigen Chemadi led the team for the second meet in a row, finishing first overall with a time of 24:21.2. Jacob Choge also finished in the Top-5, coming in at third place with a 24:25.8 time. Lebo Mosito finished in the Top-10 at ninth place, and Freshman Hillary Kimaiyo came in 12th.
The women's team finished seventh overall out of 20 teams with 231 points and a total time of 1:52:13. Junior Eusila Chepkemei led the team for the first time this season, coming in eighth place overall. She finished with a time of 21:28.0. Sophomore Pamela Kosgei finished 29th with a total time of 22:11.8, followed by Joice Jebor in 31st place with a 22:13.2 time.
Coach's Comments
"I'm happy with the performances from both teams and where we are at. Both teams have a little more work to do, specifically with the four and five numbers closing the gap," said Head Coach Keith Vroman. "The men stacked up well against the No. 15 Indiana team."
