Volleyball Heads to Huntsville for Midweek Matchup

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Middle Tennessee volleyball team is headed to Huntsville, Ala. to face Alabama A&M in a midweek match-up on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the T.M. Elmore Gym.
Dunn Hospitality Tournament Recap
The Blue Raiders picked up their first two wins of the season in Evansville, Ind. this past weekend to improve to 2-7 overall. They defeated Eastern Illinois on Friday in four sets and split the final day of the tournament, falling to Evansville (3-1) and downing Purdue Fort Wayne in five sets.
Freshman Kayla Henley showed a strong performance in Friday's match against EIU as she played right side for the first time this season. She led the team attacks with a total 16 kills, and tallied 10 digs for her first career double-double.
Dora Peonia recorded her fourth double-double on the season against Evansville and Bri Tankesley led the team in digs with 14 total.
Taylor Hammill had an impressive match against Purdue Fort Wayne, finishing with a season-high 52 assists and a career-high 18 digs to tally her fourth double-double on the year. Marley Banton tied her career-high 14 digs, and had a career-high three kills from the back row.
Scouting the Opponent
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs are 4-6 overall after dropping their last two matches this past weekend to Wofford College and North Carolina A&T in the Wofford Tournament in Spartanburg, S.C.
One player to watch is outside hitter Jaelin Gant who has a season total 51 kills and 61 digs. Setter Megan Evans has also had a decent season so far with a season-high 46 assists, and a season-high 18 digs that she dished out against Wofford over the weekend.
In their last meeting in 2013, the Blue Raiders defeated the Bulldogs in three sets.

The Blue Raiders travel to Cookeville, Tenn. this weekend for the Tennessee Tech Invitational where they will face Southern Illinois, Western Illinois and host Tennessee Tech in their final tournament of the season.
