Blue Raiders vs. Blazers Donor Challenge to Kick Off on January 27

MURFREESBORO - As UAB and Middle Tennessee prepare for a back-to-back series on the hardwood in mid-February, the Conference USA athletic departments will once again compete for donor support in the 2020 Blazers vs. Blue Raiders Donor Challenge. Alumni and friends of these two institutions will have another chance to show their dedication by becoming new donors to their respective athletic departments.
In January 2019, the inaugural Blazers vs. Blue Raiders Donor Challenge had over 150 new donors show support for their respective school with the Blazers edging out the Blue Raiders for the victory.
The school who secures the most NEW donors with a minimum gift of $50 between 9:00 AM, January 27, 2020 and 5:00 PM, February 12, 2020 will be declared the winner. A new donor is considered any individual or corporation who has not contributed in the previous year that directs their gift to any athletics initiative. Both schools will also count any donor who contributed during the 2019 competition that renews their 2020 gift at the next level during the donor challenge. Gifts secured in person, online, by phone, or via mail will all be credited towards the 2020 competition and provide the financial resources necessary to help our student-athletes win Conference USA championships.
"We want to be the best at everything that we do, and to accomplish that, we must also win off the field by properly supporting our coaches and student-athletes," stated UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram. "This competition will help both departments experience growth and position UAB Athletics for a strong start to the 2020 giving year."
"This challenge spurs two goals. The first and most important is that it allows fans to support our student-athletes to be the best they can be. Secondly, it helps fuel a budding, yet healthy rivalry with UAB," said Middle Tennessee Director of Athletics Chris Massaro. "It gives fans something to rally behind and support his/her University in a very tangible way."
UAB and Middle Tennessee will launch the donor challenge on January 27, 2020 and provide regular updates to their respective fan bases. Mark your calendar and join the competition to help your school win on and off the court!
