MT moves to 16-0 over TSU
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis opens up the home schedule undefeated by taking down Tennessee State on Saturday at the Adams Tennis Complex, 6-1.
The Raiders continue the dominance over the Tigers, winning the 16th-straight victory over TSU. Only allowing six total points.
Looking to start the first home match of the season with a perfect record, the Raiders came out strong in doubles play quickly, clinching the doubles point over the Tigers with Muskan Gupta and Noelle Mauro dominating, 6-0, followed by Lee Barnard and Lidia Burrows securing the point for the Blue Raiders with a 6-1 victory.
Maintaining its successful start, the Blue Raiders extended its lead to 2-0 with junior Lee Barnard earning a swift straight-set victory over TSU's Mackenzie Beckham, 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman Noelle Mauro extended the Raiders lead to 3-0, defeating TSU's Lydia Jones, 6-0, 6-0.
With the Blue Raiders looking to clinch the match, freshman Muskan Gupta stepped up for the Raiders by winning the first set over Ashia Jones, 6-0. Gupta continued to dominate, earning a 6-0 victory in the second set, clinching the match for the Blue Raiders.
Remaining courts continued play collecting two additional victories for the Blue Raiders.
Senior Marta Herrero Peris earned the Raiders' fourth singles victory, taking down Morgan Cage, 6-0, 6-1.
Earning the Blue Raiders final point of the match, Lidia Burrows extended the Raiders lead to 6-0, battling in the first set 6-4 and sweeping in the final set, 6-0.
The Blue Raiders look to extend their winning ways on January 30, heading to Murray State for a Thursday match up.
