Lady Raiders Return Home to Face UTEP

Murfreesboro, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team returns to action in Murphy Center Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to face the UTEP Miners on Veteran and Military Appreciation Night. All military personnel and veterans with a military ID will receive a complimentary ticket to the game.

- MT Athletics and the Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center are partnering with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team with the 101st Airborne Divisions at Thursday night's game.
- Just before tipoff, there will be three rappel demonstrations by soldiers with the Sabalauski Air Assault School based at Fort Campbell, Ky., the last of which will bring the game ball to MTSU's Keith M. Huber, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general and former nine-year member of the 101st .
About the Lady Raiders
- Charity Savage currently ranks fourth in the country and first in C-USA in rebounds per game with 11.2. Savage also ranks third in the conference for her .559 field goal percentage.
- Anastasia Hayes ranks third in C-USA in scoring with 17.2 points per game, trailing closely behind the leading Erica Ogwumike from Rice with 17.5 points per game.
- Taylor Sutton moved up a spot to No. 2 in the C-USA rankings for three point field goals per game with 2.9.
Scouting the Miners
- UTEP is 12-6 overall, 5-2 in C-USA after defeating North Texas 67-63 Saturday night.
- The Miners features a balanced scoring attack, led by Katarina Zec with 13.3 points per game. Freshman point guard Katia Gallegos averages 9.6 ppg., and leads C-USA in assists with 5.0 per outing.
- UTEP has already exceeded its win total from all of last season when it won nine games, and averages 71.1 points per game, which is third in C-USA.
All-Time vs. UTEP
- MT and UTEP meet for the eighth time. All of the meetings have taken place as C-USA members.
- The Lady Raiders and HC Rick Insell lead the all-time series, 6-1.
- MT has won four straight in the series and are 3-0 against UTEP at Murphy Center.
Last Time Out
- In their last match, the Lady Raiders took down Southern Miss 77-69 in Hattiesburg, Miss., making it the first road win in series history against the Golden Eagles.
- The Lady Raiders were led offensively by sophomore Taylor Sutton with a game-high 25 points, including three 3-pointers.
- Charity Savage earned her eighth double-double of the season, netting 19 points and pulling 10 rebounds.
Next Time Out
- The Lady Raiders will continue their weekend at home with a matchup against the UTSA Roadrunners Saturday Feb. 1 at 5:00 p.m. in the Murphy Center.
