2020 SCHEDULE
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's 2020 football schedule has the type flavor you want to begin a new decade. The Blue Raiders will host four bowl teams and likely the first ranked opponent to ever play in Floyd Stadium as Conference USA announced the league schedules on Wednesday.
The Blue Raiders' 106th season of football includes home dates with Indiana State, ACC member Virginia Tech, rival WKU, North Texas, Charlotte and defending league champion FAU.
The road contests include Duke, Old Dominion, FIU, Rice, Marshall and UConn.
It is important to note that all games are subject to date changes and some dates are expected to move in the coming weeks in order to accommodate national television. A schedule of televised games will be released at a later date.
The Blue Raiders will be playing two ACC members in the same season for the first time since 2009 when MT went 10-3 and won the New Orleans Bowl. Middle Tennessee faces Duke on the road to begin the 2020 campaign before hosting Virginia Tech on Sept. 19. It will mark the first-ever meeting against the Hokies who return 20 starters and will likely be ranked in the Top 25.
Middle Tennessee's other non-conference games will see the Blue Raiders host FCS member Indiana State on Sept. 12 while traveling to UConn on Nov. 21. The Blue Raiders and Sycamores have met just once in football and it is one that will never be forgotten. MT traveled to Indiana State in 1984 for the second round of the NCAA Playoffs and came away with an exciting 42-41 win in three overtimes.
The Blue Raiders and Huskies will be playing for the first time since 2001. It will be the debut season for UConn as an Independent.
For the first time since 2017, the Blue Raiders will open C-USA play on the road when they travel to ODU on Sept. 26 before returning home on Oct. 3 to welcome long-time rival WKU. This will be the earliest meeting between MT and WKU since 2014 when they played on Sept. 13.
MT will then travel to FIU on Oct. 10 before returning home to host North Texas on Oct. 17. It will be the Mean Green's first visit to Floyd Stadium since 2015.
The Blue Raiders will head to Rice on Oct. 24 to face the Owls in Houston for the first time in school history and will then welcome their lone open date on Oct. 31.
MT will come out of the open date to host Charlotte on Nov. 7 before heading on the road to meet Marshall on Nov. 14.
After a trip to UConn, the Blue Raiders will wrap-up the regular season at home against defending C-USA champion FAU on Nov. 28.
Season ticket renewal commitments for current Blue Raider football season ticket holders will become available within the next month. Season ticket holders will receive information via their email address on file with the Blue Raider ticket office.
