MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Lady Raiders will play their home and season opener against Belmont Sunday at 5:30 p.m., Director of Athletics Chris Massaro has announced.
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders men's game against Chattanooga has been moved from Dec. 6 to Dec. 7 with a scheduled tip time of 6 p.m., in order to accommodate for the football game against UAB and the women's basketball game.
Due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, fans will not be allowed entry to watch the games in Murphy Center. Both basketball games can be seen on CUSA.tv.
The Dec. 6 date is the latest season opener in the 46-year Division I history for the Lady Raiders, who have only had three previous openers occur in the month of December.
Middle Tennessee was originally scheduled to play Belmont at Murphy Center Dec. 3; however, the game was moved due to positive COVID-19 tests results and contact tracing within the Lady Raider bubble.
The Lady Raiders have been unable to practice since Nov. 20. Due to contact tracing they will not have their full complement of players against Belmont; however, Head Coach Rick Insell said the team is excited to get the season started.
Middle Tennessee had previously postponed games against Louisville and Vanderbilt due to COVID-related concerns. Makeup dates for those games have not been announced.
