Red hot Lady Raiders win fourth straight

MT topples Austin Peay on their courts, 4-2
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team earned its fourth straight win with a 4-2 win at Austin Peay on Sunday at the Governors Tennis Center.
Coming into Nashville, Austin Peay defended their courts well defeating the visiting Blue Raiders in doubles point.
After the Govs claimed the No. 3 doubles spot, senior Lidia Burrows and junior Lee Barnard stepped up to collect the Raiders' first doubles victory with a close 7-6(5) win.
Leaving the No. 2 doubles of Marta Peris Herrero and Zani Barnard to decide doubles.
The Governors knocked off Peris and Z. Barnard in tiebreaker 7-6(6).
In singles, the Blue Raiders struck first with junior Zani Barnard winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to put the Raiders on the board, 1-1.
With a straight set victory, junior Lee Barnard advanced the Raiders' lead to 2-1 with a win. Coming in clutch for the Blue Raiders, Burrows won 7-6(3), 6-3 to move the lead, 3-1.
On court four, the Govs cut the lead to 3-2.
Freshman Noelle Mauro clinched the match for the Raiders with a 6-3, 6-3 mark for the 4-2 win.
Middle Tennessee returns to action at 5 p.m. CT Friday to face UAPB at the Adams Tennis Complex. Admission and parking is free.
