Lady Raiders win fifth straight

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis increased their win streak to five after an unblemished outing, defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 7-0 Friday at the Adams Tennis Complex.
Swiftly securing the doubles point over the Lions, Blue Raiders pair Muskan Gupta and Love-Star Alexis shut out UAPB's Nall/Hapke, 6-0. They were followed by Zani Barnard and Marta Peris Herrero clinching the doubles point for the Raiders on court 2 with a 6-0 win over Kallie and Lepe.
Leading 1-0 headed into singles, Peris wasted no time on court 4 and quickly took down Lepe in the first set, 6-0. Peris maintained speed as she entered the second set and closed out the match in a straight-set victory over Lepe, 6-0, 6-0.
Peris's victory extended the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 over the Lions with five courts remaining in play.
Extending the Raiders lead to 3-0, junior Zani Barnard dominated UAPB's Hapke in the first set, 6-0, followed by a 6-0 win in the second set to secure the point over Hapke.
With four courts remaining, junior Lee Barnard stepped up for the Blue Raiders, clinching the match on court 2 over Stokes in a straight-set win, 6-0, 6-0.
Remaining courts played out where the Blue Raiders collected three more victories over the Lions.
The Blue Raiders look to build on their win streak next Wednesday against Southern in New Orleans, La.
