Lady Raiders fall in tight match to Marshall

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Middle Tennessee concluded its road trip falling short to Marshall, 4-3, on Saturday morning at the Mickel Tennis Center.
The Herd started with doubles point after winning at No. 1 and 3.
Down 1-0 heading into singles, Marshall extended their lead with Ballow taking down Marta Peris Herrero in a tight 7-6(5), 6-2 match on 4.
Pushing the Herd lead, Smith downed Zani Barnard at the No. 1 spot in a three set thriller 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
With a 3-0 deficient, senior wins her second match of the weekend by taking down Marshall's Hansewyck in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5(5).
Cutting the lead to 3-2, Lee Barnard outlasted Dankanych on Court 2 in three sets, 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 6-2 and freshman Muskan Gupta tied the match up sweeping her opponent 6-3, 6-3.
Looking to get the win, Noelle Mauro sat alone on the court as she looked to complete the comeback.
Marshall's Stefancic battled in the third set clinching over freshman Noelle Mauro, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Middle Tennessee moves to 3-4 on the season. The Blue Raiders return home for four-straight matches at the Adams Tennis Complex
