MT Drops Series Finale to Tulane

New Orleans, La. – Despite scoring the most runs they have in a game this season the Middle Tennessee baseball team drops the series finale to Tulane 11-7. The Blue Raiders (3-8, C-USA 0-0) cycled through seven pitchers in the high scoring affair as starter Justin Medlin was pulled after walking four straight batters to begin the game.
"When you're digging into your bullpen early you know there's going to be some runs put up [on the scoreboard]," said Head Coach Jim Toman.
Offense was easy to come by as both teams combined for 24 hits, including nine extra-base hits. Brycen Thomas and Mason Speirs doubled the Raiders' season total in home runs and blasted one each off Green Wave pitchers.
"I'm proud of these guys, we had the same number of hits, we hit a couple out, and we're showing some signs of scoring some runs," said Toman.
After being no-hit in game one, the Blue Raiders bounced back and racked up 24 hits in games two and three and scored 12 runs in the final two games.
"We just have to figure out how to do all three facets of the game… Today we didn't pitch [well] but we hit pretty well, and we played defense pretty well," said Toman. "There were a lot of positive, and our record doesn't indicate it, but there are a lot of positive things going on."
MT will return home to Murfreesboro and Reese Smith Jr. Field take on Lipscomb at 3:00 PM CST. Tuesday's game against Lipscomb will be "90's Night" and the first 100 fans will receive a Blue Raiders themed T-shirt!
