BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Middle Tennessee competed for most of the game yet again with Western Kentucky's ace, but three late runs created a deficit too big in the second game of the Conference USA opening series.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE 2, WESTERN KENTUCKY 6
» Jocelynn De La Cruz put MT in the hit column early, as a single to right centerfield gave the Blue Raiders their first baserunner in the top of the first.
» Mia Marinakis started in the circle for MT and gave up just three hits and no runs scored in her first three innings in the circle.
» Western Kentucky got on the board first with a two-run fourth inning.
» Kailey Ahlstrom came on in relief after back-to-back singles opened the frame and kept the damage to those two Hilltopper runs.
» WKU added to its lead in the fifth inning, as a two-out walk came around to score an unearned run.
» Lexi Cushing cut into the Hilltopper lead with a two-out, two-run homer to centerfield. The sixth inning round-tripper was Cushing's 10 homer of the season.
» The Hilltoppers then put the game out of reach with three runs in the sixth.
