MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Head Coach Nick McDevitt and his staff have landed another highly talented transfer Thursday in Charleston Southern's Dontrell Shuler.
A 6-foot-2, 180 pound point guard, Shuler averaged a team-high 17.9 points as a sophomore, including outings of 15 points at Michigan State, 24 points at Dayton and an eye-opening career high of 34 points at Hampton in one of his final games as a Buccaneer.
A Columbia, S.C. native, Shuler played his prep ball at Legacy Charter School where he averaged 17 points, five rebounds and five assists per game in route to the National Charter School Tournament.
"Dontrell is a great addition to our program," McDevitt stated. "He brings toughness and intensity to both ends of the floor. He is a tenacious on-ball defender and a strong, physical offensive driver.
"Most of all, he has a competitive spirit that is contagious and will impact our program!"
McDevitt's second high-talent transfer in as many days will have two seasons of eligibility remaining in Murfreesboro after competing as a freshman and sophomore at Charleston Southern.
Shuler joins McDevitt's 2020 signing class one day after 6-foot-8 Mississippi State transfer Elias King, as the duo become the second and third Blue Raider signees in addition to 6-foot-10 prep post man Christian Fussell.
