Blue Raiders set to face VCU in first road game

RICHMOND, Va. – Middle Tennessee women's basketball travels to VCU for its first road contest of the season Friday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CDT inside the Siegel Center.
Last time out - Nov. 9, 2021 vs. East Carolina (W, 70-49)
The Blue Raiders look to build off of a season-opening win against East Carolina. Courtney Whitson led all scorers with 21 points. Dor Saar dropped 18 points and Courtney Blakely scored 14 in their Middle Tennessee debuts.

The defending Atlantic 10 Tournament champions open up the 2021-22 season against the Blue Raiders.
After starting last season 2-5, VCU won three of its final four regular season games to finish 16-11 overall and 10-5 in league play. After winning the conference tournament championship for the first time in program history, VCU's season ended in a 32-63 loss to Indiana in the NCAA Tournament.
VCU returns two of its top three scorers. Taya Robinson averaged 14.3 points and six rebounds per game while leading the team in blocks (16) and steals (42). Sarah Te-Biasu averaged 10.8 points per game and shot 38 percent from 3-point range.
Head coach Beth O'Boyle enters her eighth season leading VCU. She has a record of 122-94 with the Rams.

Middle Tennessee and VCU had just one previous meeting. The Lady Raiders defeated the Rams 86-63 back on Dec. 18, 2019.
