Middle Tennessee Softball signs three new Blue Raiders to 2022 class

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball head coach Jeff Breeden announced the signing of three new Blue Raiders to its 2022 class, with two Tennessee natives and a strong-pitching arm from Texas joining the Blue Raiders next season.
"We feel like with this signing class we have filled some needed spots in our roster depth," said head coach Jeff Breeden. "This is the fourth class in a row that we have succeeded in attracting very high-quality young athletes. Our coaching staff has done a very good job recruiting nationally to help us face the challenges that C-USA puts before us each weekend series. We are very excited for the future of our program. The type athletes in this class, along with our stadium upgrades, and continued administrative support means great things can happen for our program in the future. There is excitement in our program every day."
Ansley Blevins
C | 6-0 | Jasper, Tenn. | Girls Preparatory School
Blevins, a native of Jasper, Tennessee, comes to the Blue Raiders following her career as a tri-sport athlete, and a five-year letterwinner in softball, four-year letterwinner in volleyball, and one-year letterwinner in basketball.
Blevins was a five-year softball starter and a four-year volleyball starter for the Bruisers. She helped lead the Bruisers to three state runner-up finishes in 2018, 2019, and 2021. During her softball career, she was named All-Region in softball during her freshman and junior seasons. Blevins was also named to the Division II-AA All-State Softball Team and was recognized as a Beautiful Beast of Softball. In volleyball, Belvins was recognized All-Region as a senior and was a captain of the volleyball team. Blevins finished her Bruisers career batting an impressive .419 with 97 hits, including 52 extra-base hits, and hitting 19 home runs, recording 96 RBIs and tallying 89 runs.
In the classroom, Blevins was recognized with the Mary Alice Chambers Award and the Laura Holt Outstanding Athlete Award.
"Ansley is a five-tool player," said coach Breeden. "She will come in day one and fight for a starting position behind the plate. She is a winner and leader inside. She has played at a high level in high school at GPS and in summer travel ball at the highest level. Ansley is a Jasper, Tennessee native, her parents are alums of our university, and she is TrueBlue! We look forward to what her four years are going to be like in C-USA. Big-time impact player for MT!"
Paige Connors
P | 5-10 | Lake Travis, Texas | Lake Travis High School
Connors, a native of Lake Travis, Texas, joins the Blue Raiders following her career as a four-year letterwinner and tri-sport athlete, competing in softball, basketball, and volleyball, from Lake Travis High School. Connors is a two-time Lake Travis High School Team MVP and was named to the 5A/6A TGCA All-Star Team. During her freshman season, Connors was named to the Brittany Tuck All-Tournament Team, recognized as Academic All-District, named an All-District honorable mention. As a sophomore, Connors was named a 2019 Vype Athlete to Watch, and was named a 2020 and 2021 Vype Athlete. Connors was named to the NB Canyon Softball Classic All-Tournament Team.
She helped lead the Cavaliers as far as three rounds into the Texas 6A state playoffs. As a senior, Connors finished with 213 strikeouts, while also posting a .420 batting average and a 1.152 on-base plus slugging percentage.
In addition to her high school career, Connors also competed with the Texas Bombers. She was named a two-time USSSA MVP, a USSSA All-State selection, and a 2021 IDT All-Star Team selection with the Bombers.
Connors plans to study business marketing at Middle Tennessee.
"Paige brings a left-handed arm to our pitching staff," expressed coach Breeden. "She is coming to us from Austin, Texas. She has played at a very high level in her travel ball and her team, the Texas Bombers, is a top flite travel organization. She will come in and make our team better on day one. We are extremely excited to see her skills on full display as a Blue Raider. We have very high expectations for this strong arm from Texas!"
Lexi Medlock
OF | 5-7 | Murfreesboro, Tenn. | Siegel High School
Medlock, a native of Murfreesboro, joins the Blue Raiders following her career as a four-year letterwinner at Siegel High School.
She helped lead the Stars to a pair of Tennessee state tournament appearances, earning recognition on the 2021 All-Tournament Team. Medlock was also named All-Area District Second Team. At Siegel, Medlock posted an impressive .371 batting average, a .406 on-base percentage, while recording 45 hits, 25 RBIs, and scoring 41 runs.
In addition to her high school career, Medlock also competed at the club level with Mojo Henson, helping lead the team to a third-place finish in the Jo Cup. With Mojo Henson, Medlock batted a .405 with 30 hits and produced a .430 on-base percentage. Extra Innings ranked Medlock as the No. 172 player and the No. 91 outfielder nationally.
Medlock plans to study education while at Middle Tennessee.
"Lexi is a hometown girl, coming to us from Siegel High School," said coach Breeden. "We are expecting her to come in and compete for an outfield position from day one. Her defensive skills will enable her to help add depth to our talented outfield. It was evident in our recruiting that we are the right fit for this hometown young lady. Welcome aboard, Lexi."

Lexi Medlock
