MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee guard Jalynn Gregory has been named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week after helping lead the Lady Raiders to two wins in a three-day span during the weekend.
Gregory averaged 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals, while shooting 46 percent from three-point range in wins vs. Mercer and Lipscomb.
"Jalynn has had a good start to her college career and she had two strong games to impact our wins this weekend," Lady Raider Head Coach Rick Insell said. "Jalynn is a strong all-around player with a good work ethic and it shows in her play."
Gregory was a stat-sheet stuffer against Mercer, which returned four starters from last season's NCAA Tournament team. The Lafayette, Tenn., native pulled six rebounds, dished out four assists and collected four steals to go with her six points.
It was Gregory's shooting that highlighted her performance in an 84-59 win against Lipscomb. The guard was a sizzling 5-of-6 from 3-point range for 15 points. Gregory added five rebounds, three assists and one steal.
C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf and are voted on by the league's women's basketball communications directors.
