Raiders earn third sweep of season after defeating Illinois State

MURFREESBORO, Tenn – The Blue Raiders came out firing on all cylinders to earn a dominating 22nd straight victory at Adams Tennis Complex after sweeping the Illinois State Red Birds, 7-0.
Chris Edge and Tom Moonen made quick work of their doubles match-up, defeating the pair of Diego Le Gal Perez and Zacharias Rasmusson, to earn a 6-1 victory and be the first ones off the court.
They were followed up by a victory from Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump; who also won 6-1 and helped the Blue Raiders earn their fifth doubles victory on the season. The doubles matches were finished off by Max Rauch and Francisco Rocha who put on an impressive performance during their 6-3 victory.
It was much of the same when it came down to the singles match-ups. It all started with the junior Slump, who put on a masterclass against his opponent and was able to win in straight-sets 6-2, 6-1.
Tom Moonen was the second singles victory for the Blue Raiders, after he also took his match in straight-sets 6-1, 6-4 on court one. The clinching point of the match came on court five from Max Rauch; after he put away his opponent in straight-sets 6-0, 6-4.
Francisco Rocha, Chris Edge, and Oskar Michalek helped the Blue Raiders to finish off their sweep after earning victories on courts three, four, and six.
Middle Tennessee will be on the road for their next match-up, as they will travel to South Bend, Indiana and take on Notre Dame on Sunday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m.
