MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team is back home this week as they are set to take on Charlotte, Friday at the Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CST and the contest will be live-streamed on CUSA.tv.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders picked up their first win of the season last week as they shut out Old Dominion, 1-0, in Norfolk. Peyton DePriest notched the game-winning goal while Hannah Suder made three saves in net.
Manley-oh-Manley
Sophomore defender Caroline Manley picked up honors from Conference USA as she was named Defensive Player of the Week. She helped anchor the Blue Raider defense that held ODU to just 12 shots, including just three on goal. She became the first MTSU player to pick up this honor since Emily Jorgenson in 2015
Atop the Record Books
As a junior in 2019, Peyton DePriest set the program record for career goals scored. With nearly a full season yet to play, the forward currently sits atop the Blue Raiders record books with 44 goals, which leads the nation among active players, and a career shot percentage of .268, and she set the single-season mark for goals per game in 2019 with 1.07.
Series History
The Blue Raiders enter Friday's matchup leading the all-time series 3-2-1, with the first meeting taking place back in 2013. The 49ers won last season's contest, 5-2, after MTSU had won the previous three.
Scouting the 49ers
Charlotte is coming off a tough non-conference loss to Virginia Tech last week, giving up a late goal and falling 2-1. Michaella Arteta scored the lone goal for the 49ers.
Charlotte currently sits with a 1-3 record with the one win coming by way of a 3-1 victory over Old Dominion on February 26, their lone Conference USA game so far this season. Arteta and Julia Patrem both have two goals to pace the 49ers while Haley Shand has added one of her own. Abby Stapleton has gotten a bulk of the duty in goal this season and has responded with 18 saves and a .750 save percentage.
