MTSU Soars Past Skyhawks

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee got back in the win column, Friday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Complex, as they defeated the Skyhawks of UT Martin, 6-1.
The Raiders took two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point and won all the completed singles matches as UT Martin's sole point came from a retirement.
MTSU improves to 7-7 on the season while the Skyhawks fall to 0-7.
Zani Barnard and Love-star Alexis took care of their opponent with a quick 6-1 victory before UT Martin tied up the doubles at one match apiece. Lee Barnard and Lidia Burrows clinched the doubles point for MTSU with a 6-4 win.
In singles, Muskan Gupta was the first Raider to add a point as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Zani Barnard quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Noelle Mauro clinched the match for Middle Tennessee as she eased to a 6-0 second set victory after taking the first set, 7-5.
Lee Barnard added extra points to the final score with a 7-5, 6-4 win before Alexis won the final match, 6-2, 5-7, 10-3.
With tomorrow's match against Bellarmine cancelled, MTSU's next match will be March 19 when they host Florida International in Conference USA action. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
