Lawson Body Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Junior Samira Lawson Body was named to the Conference USA Volleyball All-Academic Team for the spring 2021 season, as announced Tuesday by the league office. Lawson Body's selection marks the third consecutive year a Middle Tennessee player has received the honor.
Lawson Body leads the Blue Raiders with 155 kills, an average of 2.58 per set. She tied a career-high in kills with 16 against Marshall on Mar. 7. On Mar. 15 versus FIU, she earned 15 kills with a .682 hitting percentage. She also collected a career-high 19 points against Marshall on Mar. 7.
Academically, Lawson Body is majoring in Biology and received the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2019. The junior earned a 4.0 GPA last semester. She helped the Middle Tennessee volleyball team win the AVCA All-Academic Team Award the past two years.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, at least a sophomore class standing, and be a starter or key reserve member of the squad. The selection is also based on a student-athlete's athletic performance.
