Van Der Werff Selected to C-USA Volleyball All-Freshman Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee freshman Amelia Van Der Werff was selected to the Conference USA Volleyball All-Freshman team, announced Wednesday by the league office.
Van Der Werff is the third player in program history to be named to the C-USA All-Freshman team and the first since teammate Kayla Henley earned the honor in 2019. The Leavenworth, Kan., native started all 15 matches during her debut campaign at middle blocker with a team-leading .347 hitting percentage.
She is second on the team in points (180.5), second on the team in kills (149), and third on the team in blocks (36). She was named C-USA Freshman of the Week on Feb. 23. She is the first freshman in program history to receive a C-USA Freshman of the Week honor.
"Amelia is one of those players that is an absolute joy to coach. She is the epitome of a student-athlete, great academically, but on the court, she is not a player you have to tell to work hard," head coach Chuck Crawford said. "She is deserving of being named to the All-Freshman team. She has put in the work and the time, and in the future, I possibly see her being named All-Conference, All-Region, All-American, and also be a team captain."
