Auburn Outlasts Blue Raiders

AUBURN, Ala. – Looking for their second win in three days against an SEC opponent, the Middle Tennessee men's tennis team came up just short, as they fell to the Auburn Tigers, 4-2.
After Auburn won the doubles point, Chris Edge got the Raiders back even at one with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) straight-set victory. The overall match was still very much up for grabs as the other five matches all went to three sets.
Francisco Rocha and Stijn Slump each won their first set, but fell in the second while Tom Moonen, Max Rauch and Pavel Motl forced a third set after falling behind.
Moonen was not able to keep his momentum as he fell 6-2 in the final set while Rocha could not get his momentum back, also falling 6-3 in the third set.
After Slump got the Raiders a little closer by cruising in the third set to win his match 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, Motl went to a tiebreak with Maxwell Giddens. Motl battled but fell in the tiebreak, 7-4.
The Raiders will be back in action next weekend when they host Louisville at the ATC at 5 p.m before traveling to Nashville for a rematch with Vanderbilt at 9 a.m, who they just defeated on Friday night.
