Track & Field Heads to Hilltopper Relays

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee track and field team is set to compete at the Hilltopper Relays April 2-3 at Charles M. Ruter Track & Field Complex in Bowling Green, Ky. The Blue Raiders are looking to build off a successful first weekend after collecting 10 podium finishes at the Tiger Track Classic.
C-USA Athlete of the Week
Following the first week of outdoor track and field season, Eusila Chepkemei was named C-USA Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Mar. 24.
At the Tiger Track Classic, Chepkemei ran her way to top-10 qualifying times nationally in two events: 1500m (10th), and 800m (10th). The Kenya native captured the gold in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:27.40. On day two, she recorded a third-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.21.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders competed at the Tiger Track Classic March 19-20, and the team's performance earned 10 podium finishes, including four event titles.
On day one, junior Brian Rono took silver in the men's 1500 meters with a time of 3:49.56. Kigen Chemadi took the bronze with a 3:49.56 mark.
Erhire Omamuyovwi had an impressive outing on the final day of competition, winning the men's triple jump. Amara Obi (women's 200-meter dash) and Mercy Chepkurui (women's 3000 meters) rounded out first-place finishes for Middle Tennessee.
