MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Another weekly award has been collected by Middle Tennessee pitcher Corrina Dodd, as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association announced Tuesday that Dodd has been named its Pitcher of the Week.
Tuesday's announcement marks the second time this season Dodd has collected the TSWA honor, and it comes one day after Conference USA named Dodd its Pitcher of the Week for the second time in 2021.
Dodd, a junior right-hander, is now the first Blue Raider pitcher to receive the TSWA weekly award twice. Before this season, Caitlin McClure (May 16, 2014) and Cori Jennings (April 24, 2018) were the only other MT pitchers to earn the honor.
The Trafford, Alabama native joins King University's Nikole Counts as the only two hurlers in the state with two TSWA Pitcher of the Week awards this season.
An ERA of 0.91 and a record of 2-0 during the 3-1 series win over Western Kentucky last weekend lowered Dodd's season ERA to 2.43 and improved her record to 7-3.
MT stays in league play this weekend when it travels to Florida Atlantic for a four-game set starting at 5 p.m. CT on Friday. All four games can be seen on CUSA.tv.
