Blue Raiders Come Out Strong at Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee track and field team competed at the Tennessee Relays on Friday. The Blue Raiders came out strong, setting personal-bests, collecting six podium finishes and two event titles.
Jumps
Akera Benton's mark of 5.78m in the women's long jump earned her a seventh-place finish.
Esther Isa used a 1.79m jump to claim the women's high jump title.
Esther Isa captured her second gold medal of the day with a personal best of 13.11m in the women's triple jump. Akera Benton had a solid outing with a leap of 11.81m to finish sixth. On the men's side, Erhire Omamuyovwi (15.35m) and Benjamin Onyekwelu (14.30m) posted fourth and sixth-place finishes in the triple jump. Omamuyovwi and Onyekwelu performances set a new personal best.
Throws
Regina Yeboah finished 26th in the women's shot put with a throw of 9.65m.
Sprints
In the men's 100m dash, Courtland Jordan ran a personal best 11.29 to earn a ninth-place finish. Cecilia Francis finished fourth in the women's 100m dash with 11.72, while Ida Mensah finished 13th.
In the women's 200m dash, Amarachukwu Obi clocked 23.45 to earn the silver. Dorcas Gyimah would follow behind with a 12th place finish (25.34).
Jaquez Torian led the way in the men's 400m with a 47.07 to capture the silver. Nickson Pierre finished ninth (48.97), Darian Jones 10th (49.21), Michael Fuqua 12th (49.44), and Matthew Stewart rounded out the order with a 13th place finish (49.58). Patience Akanwogba (57.37) and Quanisha Marshall (58.65) took 11th and 12th place, respectively, in the women's 400m.
Middle Distance
Stephen Mengich set a new personal best in the men's 800m, clocking in at 1:51.24 to finish ninth. On the women's side, Francisca Jebor finishes 10th and set a new personal best with a time of 2:12.92.
In the men's 1500m, Stephen Mengich finished 22nd (3:58.56), Isaiah Strauel 29th (4:04.87), and Ryan Matson finished 34th (4:27.06). Faith Rono set a new personal best in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:34.80 to finish 12th.
Long Distance
Caitlin Cunningham set a new personal best in the women's 3000m steeplechase, clocking in at 11:16.91 to finish fifth.
Hurdles
Glory Nyenke ran a 15.01 in the women's 100m hurdles to finish 14th. Finishing 1:00.36 in the women's 400m hurdles, Nyenke took home bronze-medal honors.
Relays
The men's 4x400m relay of Darian Jones, Nickson Pierre, Matthew Stewart, and Jaquez Torian ran a 3:11.88 to finish fourth. On the women's side, Glory Nyenke, Quanisha Marshall, Patience Akanwogba, and Amarachukwu Obi earned the silver with a time of 3:41.93.
