Borendame Named USPTA Southern College Coach of the Year

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee men's tennis head coach was named the Southern College Coach of the Year by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), Tuesday night at the USPTA Southern Virtual Convention.
Borendame led the Blue Raiders to the their second straight Conference USA Title this season and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Finishing the season with a 17-8 overall record which included big wins over Iowa, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Louisville, and South Florida, the Raiders have consistently been ranked in the ITA Top 50 all season.
The honor by the USPTA was the second of the day for Borendame as he was named Conference USA Coach of the Year for the third straight season, on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite a loss to #22 Tulane in the NCAA Tournament, Borendame is not done coaching this season as junior Francisco Rocha will be playing in the NCAA Singles Championship beginning May 23rd. Rocha is currently ranked #55 in the country and was as high as #35, the highest ranking for an individual in the 11 seasons for the Blue Raiders under Borendame.
