Blue Raider Women Capture C-USA Outdoor Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's track and field team captured the Conference USA title Sunday evening. The men finished strong and earned a third-place finish overall. The team collected seven Conference USA titles on the final day of competition at the 2021 C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This brings the squad's overall title count to 11 on the weekend.
Jumps
Esther Isa collected the silver in the women's triple jump with a 12.97m mark, while Akera Benton finished sixth with a 12.63m leap. Erhire Omamuyovwi uses a new personal best 15.37m to take the bronze in the men's triple jump.
Esther Isa collected the gold with a 1.85m mark in the women's high jump, while Regina Yeboah finished 18th with a 1.60m mark.
Sprints
Amarachukwu Obi took the silver with 53.06, and Agnes Abrocquah took the bronze with a time of 53.30 in the women's 400m. Jaquez Torian collected the silver with a time of 46.12.
Cecilia Francis ran an 11.64 to finish fourth in the women's 100m.
Amarachukwu Obi blew past the competition with a time of 23.30 to capture the gold in the women's 200m.
Middle Distance
In the women's 1500m Eusila Chepkemei (4:21.72) finished in second, and Faith Rono (4:24.01) finished right behind her in third. Joice Jebor finished sixth with a time of 4:30.30. On the men's side, Jacob Choge captured the men's 1500m title with a time of 3:42.24. Brian Rono took the bronze with a time of 3:47.29.
Eusila Chepkemei dominated the women's 800m with a time of 2:06.78 to capture the gold. Brian Rono completed the sweep with a time of 1:51.80 to take the gold. Jacob Choge finished right behind him in second place with a 1:51.89 time.
Long Distance
Eusila Chepkemei had an impressive showing in the women's 5000m as she earned the silver with a time of 16:38.39. Mercy Chepkurui (17:10.53) and Faith Rono (17:20.10) finished sixth and seventh respectfully. On the men's side Jacob Choge (14:00.48), Kigen Chemadi (14:04.79), and Lebo Mosito (14:13.98) finished second, third, and fourth. Stephen Mengich rounded out the order with a 17th place finish.
Relays
Cecilia Francis, Ida Mensah, Agnes Abrocquah, and Amarachukwu Obi captured the title in the women's 4x100m relay. The team of Michael Fuqua, Darian Jones, Nickson Pierre, and Jaquez Torian finished sixth in the men's 4x100m relay.
The Blue Raider women completed the sweep in the relays with a first-place finish in the women's 4x400m relay. The men's 4x400m team finished fourth.
