Chepkemei, Obi Advance to Quarterfinals on Second Day of NCAA East Preliminary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Middle Tennessee track and field team opened up the second day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday as two athletes qualified for quarterfinals action set for Saturday.
Jumps
A 5.85m jump in the women's long jump was not enough to give Esther Isa a ticket to Nationals.
Sprints
In the women's 400m, Amarachukwu Obi (53.66) finished 27th, and Agnes Abrocquah (54.04) ended her season with a 36th place finish.
Amarachukwu Obi would end her day on a high note as she ran a 23.49 in the women's 200m to advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday. The freshman will look to punch her ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Middle Distance
Eusila Chepkemei used an impressive run of 4:19.35 to advance to the women's 1500m quarterfinals on Saturday at 4:45 pm CT. Chepkemei will have an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., for the first time in her career.
In the women's 800m, Eusila Chepkemei concluded her day with a time of 2:09.95.
