EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Kigen Chemadi capped off an illustrious career with an NCAA championship in the men's 3000m steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Chemadi ran an 8:28.20 to capture the title and set a new outdoor school record in the 3000m steeplechase. The win also gives him the First Team All-American selection for the second straight year in the event. He finished third overall in the 3000m steeplechase at the 2019 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
This is the Blue Raider's first national title in the event and just the second overall in meet history. The first Blue Raider to win an outdoor national title was when Mardy Scales won the 100m in 2003.
