Blue Raiders claim 2-1 comeback win over Titans

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Soccer fought back to claim an exciting 2-1 comeback victory over the Detroit Mercy Titans on Thursday evening at Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
Middle Tennessee battled back-and-forth with Detroit Mercy through the first 30 minutes of play, outshooting the Titans 6-5 over the first third of the contest. However, the Titans opened the scoring in the contest as Julie Ann Piechocki delivered a pass from Erica Leinweber in the 31st minute to give Detroit Mercy the 1-0 lead.
The Titans didn't remain in the lead for long though. Sophomore Taylor Hamlett controlled a ball outside the 18-yard box to the goal line, before finding junior Elizabeth Slavinsky inside the six-yard box who tapped the ball past the Titans' keeper to bring the match even at one apiece with a little over 10 to play in the opening half. The score marked Slavinsky's first of her career.
The Blue Raiders came out of the locker room with a mission. In the 47th minute, Hamlett powered in a pass from the top of the 18-yard box off a perfectly placed ball from Senior Peyton DePriest and sophomore Eleanor Gough to score her first career goal as a Blue Raider and give MT the 2-1 advantage.
Junior Hannah Suder led the Blue Raiders in net, collecting four saves and playing all 90 minutes in net.
The Blue Raiders led the Titans in shots (24-10), shots on goal (10-5), as well as corners, earning five while the Titans had none over the 90-minute contest.
