Blue Raiders slip to 14th in second round at Mason Rudolph Championship

Franklin, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee ended play in a tie for 14th with No. 25 Mississippi State after the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championshipon Saturday. The Blue Raiders combined for a score of 300 (+12) in the second round and have a 36-hole score of 597 (+21) heading into Sunday's third and final round. Graduate student Sophie Burks carded a 73 (+1) to end the round in a tie for 22nd individually at 144 (E).
Burks bounced back from back-to-back bogeys to start her day to go 1-under over the next 16 holes. She enters the third round three strokes out of the top 10 and 10 off the lead.
Taylor Edlin went 1-under on the back nine Saturday, but four bogeys on the front resulted in her second straight score of 75 (+3), and she ended the round tied for 52nd at 150 (+6). Catherine Caudill wrapped up the round in a tie for 60th at 151 (+7). Caroline Caudill sits in a tie for 65th at 152 (+8). Molly Bebelaar rounds out the Blue Raider lineup at 159 (+15). Caroline Caudill's eagle on the fourth hole was one of just nine eagles through the first two rounds of the tournament.
Five of the 15 teams in the Mason Rudolph Championship are top-25 teams in the September 22 Golfweek team rankings. Oregon holds the team lead at 559 (-17).

"We knew this was going to be a tough field, and the golf course is playing pretty long," head coach Chris Adams said, "but we just have to clean up a few things so we can have some better chances to score tomorrow. Sophie had another solid round today to sit at even par through two days."
