Franklin, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's golf recorded its second-lowest team round of the 2021-22 season Sunday, carding a collective 285 (-3) in the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Three Blue Raiders finished the round under par, as Molly Bebelaar shot a 69 (-3), Taylor Edlin carded a 70 (-2), and Caroline Caudill recorded a 71 (-1).
Edlin's score of 70 tied the lowest round of her collegiate career. She recorded five birdies - including four in a row on holes 4 through 7 - and an eagle to bounce back from a rocky start. Bebelaar came within one stroke of her own personal best, sinking five birdies of her own Sunday. Caudill's 71 was her third under-par round of the fall season. She birdied four holes, including three of the first eight she played.
Sophie Burks led Middle Tennessee with a 54-hole score of 219 (+3), tying for 38th in the tournament. Edlin was one stroke behind her at 220 (+4), tying for 44th. Caroline Caudill tied for 56th at 223 (+7). Bebelaar moved up 10 places to finish in a tie for 70th at 228 (+12). Catherine Caudill ended the tournament tied for 73rd at 229 (+13).
MT finished 14th as a team at 882 (+18), although its third-round score was the fifth-lowest of the day. Five of the 15 teams in the Mason Rudolph Championship were top-25 teams in the September 22 Golfweek team rankings, and 13 compete in Power Five conferences. Oregon won the team title at 838 (-26), 14 strokes ahead of second-place Alabama.
COACH ADAMS ON SUNDAY'S STRONG FINISH
"Proud of how the girls fought back today and put up some great scores," head coach Chris Adams said. "It's always nice to end a tournament on a high note, having one of the lowest scores of the day. Lots of positives going into our next event in a few weeks at Missouri State."
