MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Lauren Wamsley has signed another transfer to add to her 2026-27 women's golf roster in the form of Sara Burger. Burger will join the Blue Raiders as a redshirt senior, spending her previous years at Dalton State College.
"I am so excited to further my golf career and continue my education at MTSU," said Burger. "I'm so grateful for this opportunity and can't wait for the season! Go Blue Raiders!"
In her redshirt junior season with the Roadrunners, she wrapped up the year ranked third in the nation for NAIA golfers with two wins and five top 3 finishes, earning a First Team All-America nod. With a 657-38-10 record, the Dalton, Ga., native averaged 72.3 strokes in 30 total rounds to lead her team to a runner-up finish at NAIA Women's National Championship. She shot a season-best 207 (-6) at The Invite at Innisbrook to win the tournament, including a collegiate low of 65 (-6) in the opening round. With 10 rounds at par or better, Burger was instrumental in helping Dalton State achieve the top national spot in the final rankings.
Her redshirt sophomore season saw her finish ranked 23rd in the nation with a 74.4 scoring average and one stroke play win. She took home the individual crown at The Invite at Innisbrook 2024 edition in her third tournament of the year, shooting three-over. She followed up that win with a 2-1 record at the Gibson Bay Match Play event, winning 3&2 and 1Up.
In 27 rounds as a redshirt freshman, Burger averaged 75.7, with one top-three finish in her 10 stroke play events. She turned in a two-over scorecard at the Carey Collegiate in just her third-ever collegiate event to finish third-lowest.
