KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Stijn Slump fell in the Quarterfinals to Kentucky's Joshua Lapadat in a closely contested three-set match at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship. Slump was the only Blue Raider to compete in the men's open singles main draw at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville on Sunday.

Stepan Holis, Pavel Motl, and Slump represented the blue and white on the third day of the regional championship.

In singles, nationally-ranked Slump fell to Lapadat in the quarterfinals. Slump won the first set but wasn't able to finish his opponent off, eventually giving the next two sets away. Slump made the longest run in singles on the team.

In consolation singles play, Motl won his match against Jordan McClure of Chattanooga in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Holis also won his back-draw quarterfinal matchup against Indiana's Carson Haskins, 6-1, 6-4. Holis and Motl were set to face-off in the semifinals. However, the decision was made to have Holis advance via walkover to the consolation singles championship. Holis dropped his championship match versus Johnathan Sorbo of UK.

In doubles, the third-seeded and nationally-ranked tandem of Motl and Slump lost a heart breaker to Kentucky's duo of Lapandat and Mercer. MT's squad won the first set (6-2) but dropped the next two, 6-7, 7-10. Motl and Slump's championship run fell short in the semifinals.

The Blue Raiders will travel to the ITA All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Oct. 2-10, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
