Blue Raider Women’s Tennis returns in Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After an eight-month layoff from competing in official matches, Middle Tennessee women's tennis returns to action in Fort Myers, Fla. on Saturday, Jan. 15 at noon against Florida Atlantic and Monday, Jan. 17 versus Georgia State at 8 a.m.
The Blue Raiders will serve up the start of the season on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University, where they will take on Conference USA foe FAU in their season opener. Two days later, the team will take on Georgia State to wrap up the tournament before heading back home.
Middle Tennessee is coming off a successful fall season. The Blue Raiders competed in five preseason events, including two at home. MT also traveled to Indiana, Louisville, and Stetson, where they concluded their fall slate on Nov. 7.
Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall enters her fourth season at the helm of Blue Raider women's tennis. She enters the 2022 spring season having compiled a 33-30 (.523) overall record as head coach at Middle Tennessee.
Duvall returns seven members of last year's squad, including seniors Lee Barnard and Zani Barnard who each enter their fifth season with the Blue Raiders. Other returning members include…

Sophomores: Liliana Danajlovski and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt
Freshman Eloise Swarbrick is the lone newcomer to this year's team. She makes her way to Murfreesboro from Hawkesdale, Australia, where she competed with the Victorian State Tennis Team and won her first tournament title in Warrnambool.

- Saturday's matchup will be the ninth meeting all time between the two programs, the series is all tied-up 4-4. MT is 2-0 when facing the Owls on neutral courts.

- Monday's match will be the seventh meeting between the Blue Raiders and Georgia State, MT holds a 5-1 advantage over the Panthers.
