Blue Raiders Land Four Top-Five Finishes Day One of Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders started their second weekend in a row in Nashville with a few top place finishes in field events and continued to improve their previously set personal bests.
Field Events
Benjamin Onyekwelu starts off his long jump season in great style, taking first with a new personal best of 7.71m. His previous best indoor long jump was 7.35m during the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt in 2019.
Lyn'Nikka Vance landed in fourth overall during the women's long jump events but was first among indoor eligible athletes with a new a personal best jump of 6.11m. Vance previously set her personal best at last weekend's Commodore Challenge with a length of 6.04m.
Omamuyovwi Erhire and Esther Isa both finished in second for their respective high jump events. Erhire reached a height of 2.16m, which was .01m away from tying his indoor program record of 2.17m set last season. Isa was also close to reaching her personal best with a height of 1.75m, .03m away from her personal best of 1.78m.
Track Events
Glory Nyenke won her women's 200m heat with a time of 25.02, finishing in ninth overall in a field of 42 runners.
Michaela Fuqua and Jai'Bryan Bouye placed consecutively during the men's 200m with times of 22.98 and 23.06, finishing in 25th and 26th respectively.
