MTSU travels to Knoxville for ITA Regional Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — After a week break, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will be back in action at the ITA Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. The tournament will begin on Oct. 19 and finish Oct. 24.
Love-Star Alexis, Rutuja Chaphalkar, Sana Garakani, Muskan Gupta, Noelle Mauro and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt will represent MTSU this week in singles and doubles.
Four of the six Blue Raiders playing this week competed in this event last year. Gupta advanced to the round of 64 in the singles draw. In doubles, Gupta and Schmidt made it to the round of 32.

HEAD COACH TAYO BAILEY-DUVALL
"We are ready for regionals. I've seen some important growth for my players these four weeks of training. I think we are playing solid doubles, so I expect us to perform well all over. We have a pretty strong region, and it is always fun getting quality matches and quality wins. I'm particularly looking forward to Love-Star's singles performance and her doubles with Rutuja as they complement each other well. After a few tough matches in the MTSU Invitational, Muskan started the semester strong. I'm looking forward to her rebounding this week."
"Noelle has been raising her level of play and making important adjustments for her game that I know she can have a good week. Lilly-Sophie started the season good as well, and has shown tremendous emotional growth that I believe has pushed her to the next level. My freshman will have a few nerves, but I believe they will push through and show they can hang with the top players."
