MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — After a late fall schedule addition, Middle Tennessee women's tennis will play in the June Stewart Invitational from Oct. 7-9 at Vanderbilt University.
The Blue Raiders will only play on two days of the event: Friday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 9.
On Friday, MTSU's lineup will consist of Love-Star Alexis, Rutuja Chaphalkar, Noelle Mauro, Cara Szilasi and Karen Yibirin. On Sunday, three freshmen (Camila Barragan, Sana Garakani and Yibirin) will compete in the final day of the Invitational.
Alexis will look to continue her strong play from the MTSU Invitational, tallying six wins over the weekend.
Four teams will compete alongside MTSU in Nashville this weekend: Purdue, Illinois, Missouri and host school Vanderbilt. These Power Five opponents will be MTSU's strongest test of the fall and will prepare the Blue Raiders for the upcoming ITA Regionals. Vanderbilt and Illinois ended the 2021-22 season ranked No. 26 and No. 53 by the ITA, respectively.
Tournament play starts at 9 a.m. each day.
HEAD COACH TAYO BAILEY-DUVALL
"It is always a pleasure to participate in the June Stewart Invitational. We get the opportunity to compete against Power Five teams and see how well we measure up. Typically, we measure well, and I am looking forward to see how we will perform this weekend. These matches will be great preparation for the ITA Regionals in a few weeks."
