Middle Tennessee Baseball has finalized its 2022 signing class. Every week, goblueraiders.com will take a closer look at each future Blue Raider. This week's spotlight is on Turner Junkins.
Turner Junkins - C/UTL
5-10 | 175
Ooltewah, Tenn.
Junkins has accumulated accomplishments at Silverdale Academy, including the 2021 District Player of the Year, a two-time all-state player, 2022 Mr. Baseball Finalist and a 2020 Perfect Game All-American.
Junkins has backed his list of awards up with a .408 batting average and .540 on-base percentage his sophomore season and followed it up with a .395 average with a .459 on-base percentage, 12 doubles and seven home runs in 2022. Silverdale Academy has not lost a district game in four years.
Junkins has played travel ball for Exposure Baseball and received four letters on his high school football team.
"Turner brings a lot to the table with multiple tools to his game and a high level of competitiveness," MTSU Head Coach Jerry Meyers said. "He will be a great addition to our program and will add value to our roster with his versatility and athleticism. He has the ability to play multiple positions and understands the game at an advanced level for a young player.
Offensively, Turner has a chance to be very productive. He has the swing and approach to hitting that meshes well within our system. He has some strength already and has both the speed and quickness to add to our running game. We're excited to have another quality in-state talent coming to Murfreesboro."
The son of Janet and Mark and brother of Sawyer and Ansley, Junkins plans to major in concrete and construction management at MTSU. Follow Turner on Twitter (@TurnerJunkins) and Instagram (@_turner_junkins).
