MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Former Blue Raider student-athlete Chase Miller is making a six-figure donation to the Build Blue Campaign as announced by the Blue Raider Athletic Association on Wednesday. Miller was a member of the men's basketball program from 2015 to 2019.
The Miller gift will give him naming rights to the men's basketball head coach's office and will go towards Phase II of the project, which is the Murphy Center renovation.
"MTSU and the basketball program mean so much to my family and me," said Miller. "To be able to give back to a program and university where I met my best friends and enjoyed some of the best moments of my life is something that will always be special. I will forever be indebted for everything the university gave me and to be able to be a part of the Build Blue Campaign is a great way to give back to a place that provided me so much."
The Build Blue Campaign has now secured over $17.4 million in donor cash, donor pledges and additional funds towards the over $100 million in transformational changes coming to the athletics facilities landscape in Murfreesboro. Over 280 individuals and families have contributed to the Build Blue campaign so far.
"I, like many of our fans, enjoyed watching Chase Miller as the consummate teammate who demonstrated leadership at every opportunity," said Director of Athletics Chris Massaro. "This generous gift is another demonstration of his leadership, and we are extremely grateful for all that Chase has done and continues to do for his university."
Miller, who works in commercial real estate, joined the MTSU basketball team in 2015 out of Dallas, Tex., competing in two NCAA Tournaments, an NIT and being a part of 92 wins. He quickly became a fan favorite at Murphy Center with the chant of "Miller Time! Miller Time!" shouted every time he entered a game.
"Chase Miller is a "giver", said Head Men's Basketball Coach Nick McDevitt. "During his time as a student-athlete at Middle Tennessee, he gave his time to his teammates, he gave intense effort to the program, and he was passionate about this University and our community. Now, he continues to give generously with this wonderful financial contribution to the Build Blue Campaign. I am extremely grateful for Chase and his continued investment in Blue Raider Men's Basketball."
MTSU recently announced that the goal for the Build Blue Campaign had been increased to $20 million and construction on the $66-million Student Athlete Performance Center would begin this March.
The three-story, 87,000-square-foot performance center will provide all MTSU student-athletes with new facilities for weight training, nutrition, and sports medicine. It will also be the new home for Blue Raider Football, allowing MTSU to relocate its Football operations from Murphy Center to Floyd Stadium.
Naming opportunities within the Student Athlete Performance Center and Murphy Center are still available. Individuals wishing to join the Blue Raider Athletic Association and impact the student-athlete experience through the Build Blue campaign can contact the BRAA offices for additional information at (615) 898-2210 or BRAA@mtsu.edu.
