TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Middle Tennessee finished the first round of the Florida State Match-Up in 10th place Friday at 309 (+21). Caroline Caudill led the way at 73 (+1), finishing the round in a tie for 12th place.
"It was a rough start for us today," head coach Chris Adams said. "We just made too many big numbers and didn't handle the large greens all that well. Sophie and Caroline hung tough and had good rounds today. Abbie had a good round in her college debut with four birdies as well. We have two more days to keep getting better and hopefully move up the leaderboard."
Caudill led the Blue Raiders with five birdies Friday, closing the day with birdies on two of her final three holes. She finished one short of the most birdies by any player in the field in the first round.
Sophie Burks ended the day in a tie for 14th at 74 (+2). She recorded three birdies in the opening round.
Molly Bebelaar carded an 80 (+8) to finish in a tie for 52nd. Madison Smith tied for 62nd at 82 (+10). Rounding out the MT lineup was Catherine Caudill at 84 (+12) in 67th place.
Abbie Lee, making her collegiate debut while playing as an individual, ended play in a tie for 35th at 77 (+5). The freshman from Glasgow, Ky., carded four birdies, including three on her first six holes.
The Blue Raiders finished the day 21 strokes off the lead in a field featuring eight teams ranked in the top 50 by Golfstat.
Tee times for the second day of the Florida State Match-Up begin at 7:30 a.m. CT.
