MT Defeats Louisville in Front of a Packed House

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis (6-2, 1-0) fight off a late attack from the Louisville Cardinals (3-4) and defend the Adams Tennis Complex winning 4-2 on Friday night.
With the win, the Blue Raiders extend the longest active home win streak in the country to 34 wins.
Middle Tennessee remains perfect on the doubles courts this season, gaining the advantage in every match completed this far. No. 44 duo in the country Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump clinched the doubles point Infront of a packed house 6-3. Chris Edge and Stepan Holis move to 8-0 on court No. 3 with a similar 6-3 finish.
In singles, Edge finished first on court No. 3 with a score of 6-0, 6-3. Louisville gained their first point on court No. 5, defeating Motl in two sets 6-2, 6-4. No. 106 Holis fell on court No. 4 to give MT the equalizing point.
Freshman Oskar Brostrom Poulsen gave the Blue Raiders the advantage with a three-set finisher on court No. 6 (6-4, 1-6, 6-3). No. 44 Stijn Slump clinched the match at 4-2 with a thrilling three-set match against Etienne Donnett, Stijn was down by as much as three points in the second set and came back to win the match.
Middle Tennessee has one day off competition before taking on Notre Dame (3-1) and Tennessee State (0-4) for the second time this Spring season. Admission is free inside the ATC for the duration of the season. Sunday's match is Salute Sunday, MT student-athletes and coaches will be wearing camo to support veterans and active duty military members.
