Blue Raiders finish in top 100 of Learfield Director's Cup

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee capped off another outstanding academic and athletic year with its sixth-best finish all-time in the 2021-22 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. The Blue Raiders placed 98th out of 358 Division I schools with 189.50 total points, which also led all Conference USA schools.
"I am extremely proud of our student-athletes and coaching staffs for all the hard work they put in this past season," said Director of Athletics Chris Massaro. "Winning and being successful is never easy, so being in the top 100 nationally is a great accomplishment."
It marked the fourth time in the last seven years the Blue Raiders have finished in the top 100 and the sixth time in school history. All six top 100 finishes have occurred under the watch of Massaro.
Middle Tennessee received 50 points from men's tennis, 47 points from women's track, 45 points from football, 31.5 points from women's indoor track, and 16 points men's indoor track.
The Blue Raiders' best finish came in 2008-09 with 259 points to place 76th while placing 79th in 2009-10 with 217.5 points.
In addition to finishing better than all C-USA schools, Middle Tennessee finished ahead of such schools like Houston, Boston College, South Florida, Boise State, and Cincinnati.
The Blue Raiders won four conference championships during the 2021-22 campaign.
The Blue Raiders made postseason play in football, men's and women's cross country, men's basketball, women's basketball and men's tennis. The men's tennis team and the women's outdoor track team both finished the season ranked in the Top 25 nationally.
