NOTEBOOK: Football Reports in for Fall Camp
8/2/2022 4:20:00 PM | General
While nearly everyone on the 2022 roster has been in Murfreesboro this summer for workouts, the full roster for head coach Rick Stockstill's team checked in the Game Day Room underneath Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium, where plenty of the usual housekeeping topics were covered (GoBlueRaiders headshots, physicals for those who haven't gotten them yet, expectations, compliance, sports medicine, equipment, etc.)
In all, 110 players checked in for the 2022 season on Tuesday.
For me, this point in the season always reminds you of just how many people help make an FBS football program run. Nine different coaches, assistant and associate ADs, directors and trainers addressed the team in its opening meeting, as dozens of other support personnel were lined up along the wall from strength and conditioning, sports medicine, athletic communications and miscellaneous other offices within the MTSU Athletic department.
Camp itself will run a little differently in the first week this year, as almost everyone on the roster is finishing up the final week of the university's last summer session, meaning the usual morning practices will instead be afternoon for the first two days of practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
Redshirt junior Jahlil Ryles will also be completing his degree, as the offensive lineman is scheduled to graduate during summer commencement on Saturday with a degree in Leisure Sport & Tourism.
Stay tuned to @MT_FB on twitter for updates throughout camp.

Number Changes
As a devoted uniform buff, I'm always excited to see the number changes year to year, as well as what numbers the incoming student athletes will pick each year. This is especially interesting in football, with so many players and the ability for numbers to be "doubled up" among two players on opposite sides of the ball.
For 2022, nine returning players have changed numbers for the upcoming season. You can find the numbers of every new Blue Raider below them.

Soccer Blue/White Scrimmage set for Sunday, Sunday, Sunday
The first MTSU team to hit the field for the general public in the 2022-23 school year will be your Blue Raider soccer team, who has their annual Blue/White scrimmage this Sunday, August 7, at 4 p.m. Led by long-time head coach Aston Rhoden, MTSU will follow their scrimmage with two more exhibitions at Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium, one on Tuesday, August 9 against Chattanooga and one on Saturday, August 13, against Cumberland.
Ahead of their preseason prep, the team got to celebrate the best day for any team on campus: Nike Christmas day! Check the highlights from the day below.

MT Volleyball Media Day sets stage for preseason
Our SID and creative services teams down in the basement of the Murphy Center do such a great job prepping for each and every season with our photo days. On our end, these white screen pictures are vital for putting out the best graphics for each of our teams this season. From the players end, however, once the "cut-outs" are taken, it's a great chance to have some fun with your teammates before the season is underway.
And no one had more fun than the Blue Raider Volleyball team last week, when it was their turn in front of the lens. Check out some of the highlights below!

Fan Experience Committee Launched
Launched this past week, the Blue Raider Fan Experience Committee is a committee formed from a diverse swath of fans who provide feedback and communicate their experiences at athletic events with the goal of providing athletic department staff with recommendations, concerns and overall feedback on the fan experience at ticketed events at Floyd Stadium, Murphy Center and Reese Smith Jr. Field.
The committee will meet quarterly, starting in August. Priority will be given to current season ticket holders and Blue Raider Athletic Association members, but applications will be open to all.
To apply for the committee, please complete the registration form HERE.

Reminder: Sign up for ESPN+ to watch your Blue Raiders!
If your media habits are anything like mine, you might occasionally drop a streaming service or two from your subscriptions, only to plan to read it once something you want to watch comes out. It's a shrewd move on your part if you do!
But if that applies to you, I hope you'll join me in adding ESPN+ to your subscriptions this month, as MTSU will have a plethora of games on the service in the coming school year. Two of MTSU's first three football games this fall will be carried on ESPN+, with the final six games planned to be carried on the ESPN family of networks (read: very likely to be on ESPN+).
Select soccer and volleyball games this fall will also be streamed on ESPN+, and the streaming service will be the primary home for both Blue Raider and Lady Raider basketball games this winter.
August is a great time to jump on board if you haven't already, or at least start thinking about it before you're scrambling to subscribe just before kickoff on September 3.
