Second half Blue Raider equalizer forces tie
NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Middle Tennessee State soccer and Belmont each scored once in a Sunday night draw at E.S. Rose Park.
Facing a 1-0 deficit, Kirstine Lykke scored the Blue Raiders' (0-2-1) first official goal of the season in the second half.
The Bruins (1-1-1) found goal on their fourth shot of the day in the 14'. Cambell Kivisto (5') and Delaney Thomas (30') fired the only two Blue Raider shots of the first half compared to Belmont's five.
Lykke, a sophomore from Denmark, evened the score and ended MTSU's scoring drought in the 71', landing her shot in the top center of the goal with Eleanor Gough assisting the play.
Two consecutive good looks by Yana Yordanova and Emma Pettersen in the 88' nearly put MTSU up in the closing minutes, but both teams had to settle for a draw.
Yordanova, Lykke and Pettersen all took two shots while the Blue Raiders as a team put up nine total (six on goal). Hannah Suder had five saves.
