MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee Athletics has a variety of initiatives to connect with our teachers and students around the Middle Tennessee area throughout the 2022-2023 school year!
STUDENT SUCCESS
Lightning (the Blue Raider mascot) is excited to kick off the year by visiting all forty elementary schools in Rutherford County. Starting Monday, August 8th running through Tuesday, August 16th you will find Lightning in the parent drop-off or pick-up line at any one of the elementary schools handing out high fives and wishing students good luck as they kick off a new school year. Lightning can't wait to spend time with his number one fans as they head back to school!
Parents, be on the lookout as Lightning will be dropping off ticket vouchers for all Kindergarten through 5th-grade students in RCS and MCS. This ticket voucher will allow elementary school students to cheer on the Blue Raiders from the Family Fun Zone Section during the first home football game of the year for only $10 (normally $18)! The Blue Raider Football Team will take on the Tigers of Tennessee State in a 6:30 PM matchup at Floyd Stadium on September 17th.
Throughout the 2022 football season, Floyd Stadium will serve as a collection site for United Way's Hometown Huddle benefiting student-age children in Rutherford and Cannon Counties. More information on the specific needs of our community will be released soon.
CELEBRATING TEACHERS
Blue Raider Athletics will again be participating in the College Football Foundation's Extra Yard for Teachers Initiative for the 2022 Football Season. Extra Yard for Teachers provides the Blue Raiders a way to recognize the outstanding/hardworking educators in the Middle Tennessee area. The Blue Raiders need your help identifying the best teachers in the Middle Tennessee Community. CLICK HERE to nominate a teacher in your life that goes above and beyond for their students! Submissions will be accepted throughout the month of August.
