Blue Raiders fall to Florida Gulf Coast

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Middle Tennessee women's tennis (0-2) drop a close contest to Florida Gulf Coast (2-0) 3-4 on Saturday.
FGCU finished last season ranked No. 71 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Eagles claimed the doubles portion on courts Nos. 1 and 2 to give FGCU the advantage heading into singles. Muskan Gupta and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt won their doubles match 6-4 on court No. 3.
In singles, MTSU would take two of the first three points. Sana Garakani tallied a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Colmenares. Schmidt defeated Kopel for a 6-2, 6-1 victory for the second point for the Blue Raiders. FGCU would claim points on court Nos. 3 and 6.
Love-Star Alexis would tie it up at 3-3 with a win against No. 122 Bardet 7-5, 6-4. Despite the effort, the Eagles would take the match by defeating Noelle Mauro on court No. 5 in the third set 2-6.

"We had another good battle, which is expected against FGCU. The girls are all sowing great progress, we just need to get over a small hurdle with doubles. We are looking forward to the coming week of practice to look at some important improvements for next weekend's home opener."
